Meet Your Founder
Susan is a retired corporate attorney with substantial experience in the financial services industry. She served as chief compliance officer for several investment advisory firms and helped develop and launch mutual fund and exchange-traded fund products. While in private practice, Susan focused on both financial institution mergers and acquisitions and probate and estate planning. Susan (along with her husband Michael) also served in the US Army JAG Corps early in her legal career and eventually retired in 2017 to step into the full-time role as care partner for Michael.
Susan met Michael while both were attending law school. Michael was diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease in 1999 when he was 43 years old and in the prime of his legal career as a litigation attorney. Michael took on the challenge of living with Parkinson’s with courage and a steadfast commitment to live his best life despite the progressive nature of his condition. After a 27-year PD journey, Michael passed away in March of 2026. To honor Michael, Susan has launched A Place for Parkinson’s to provide community support to those living with PD and to share her experiences as a care partner with others who are currently serving in that role.
